Verstappen Leads the Way in First Practice Session for Mexican GP, Albon Takes Second

Max Verstappen showcased his skills on the dusty track of Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez as he topped the opening practice session for the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver set an impressive time of 1:19.718 on the Soft C5 Pirelli tires, outpacing Williams' Alex Albon to secure the top spot.
The session saw the participation of five rookie drivers who were fulfilling the mandatory young driver sessions. Pirelli also conducted tire testing during the session, with the field completing their initial laps on the test tires for the first 10 minutes. Sergio Perez of Red Bull briefly took the lead on the Medium compound before Verstappen reclaimed his position at the top.
