In exciting news for NFL fans, the Philadelphia Eagles have emerged as potential sellers at the trade deadline, with defensive end Derek Barnett being made available for trade. The Eagles, under the guidance of General Manager Howie Roseman, are looking to capitalize on the opportunity to acquire valuable assets for their roster.

According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, despite Barnett's solid performance over his seven-year career with the Eagles, the team is open to dealing him in order to bolster their defensive end rotation. This decision could also pave the way for rookie pass rusher Nolan Smith to receive more playing time on the edge.

Barnett, a first-round pick by the Eagles in the 2017 NFL Draft, has recorded an impressive 21.5 sacks during his time with the team. However, with the trade rumors swirling, his future in Philadelphia remains uncertain. General Manager Howie Roseman, known for his penchant for deep depth at the edge rusher position, may ultimately decide to retain Barnett, as he recognizes the value of having multiple options in that role.

As the trade deadline approaches, several potential landing spots are being mentioned for Barnett. One intriguing possibility is the Arizona Cardinals, who have recently suffered the loss of star pass rusher Chandler Jones. The addition of Barnett to their defensive unit could help fill the void and provide valuable depth.

Another potential destination for Barnett could be with the Chicago Bears. Despite being in a rebuilding phase, the Bears have the financial flexibility to sign Barnett to a long-term deal if he excels for them down the stretch. With Bears offensive coordinator Josh McDaniel being under scrutiny, Barnett's talent and toughness would make him a welcomed addition to the team.

The Cincinnati Bengals, currently ranked ninth in pressure rate but lacking pass rush depth, could also be an attractive landing spot for Barnett. His strength against the run would complement their existing defensive scheme and provide a boost to their pass rush productivity.

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens, despite already adding defensive talents such as Jadeveon Clowney and Kyle Van Noy, are still keeping an eye out for potential additions. Given the presence of elite quarterbacks in the AFC, Head Coach John Harbaugh and General Manager Eric DeCosta understand the importance of stockpiling pass rushers.

Lastly, a reunion with former Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson is not out of the question. Pederson drafted Barnett and may see value in adding him to his new team, potentially rejuvenating the talented defensive end's career.

With the NFL trade deadline just around the corner, the fate of Derek Barnett remains uncertain. Will he be traded to one of the aforementioned teams, or will he continue his journey with the Philadelphia Eagles as they strive to strengthen their roster? Only time will tell as the deadline draws nearer.
