Philadelphia 76ers basketball player Kelly Oubre Jr. was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday night, leaving him with injuries to his rib, hip, and right leg, according to Philadelphia Police Department and team officials. The 27-year-old athlete was walking near his home in downtown Philadelphia when he was struck by a silver car at an intersection.

The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. when the vehicle, traveling west on Spruce Street, turned south onto Hicks Street at a high rate of speed, hitting Oubre in the chest with its driver's side mirror. The silver car fled the scene, and as of now, no arrests have been made.

Paramedics quickly responded to the scene and transported Oubre to Jefferson Hospital. Upon arrival, he was in stable condition. Philadelphia 76ers president, Daryl Morey, and other team representatives rushed to the hospital to be by Oubre's side during treatment.

Fortunately, Oubre was released from the hospital late Saturday night after receiving medical attention. However, the team confirmed that he is expected to miss a significant amount of playing time due to his injuries. While the specific details of his injuries have not been disclosed, the 76ers' medical staff will closely monitor his treatment and recovery.

This unfortunate incident comes at a time when Oubre was making a significant impact on the court for the 76ers. In his inaugural season with the team, he averaged an impressive 16.3 points per game, shooting at an impressive 50% rate, contributing to the team's strong 7-1 record.

Oubre, who began his NBA career in 2015, has previously played for the Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, and Golden State Warriors. He signed a one-year deal with the 76ers in September, and his absence will undoubtedly be felt on the team as they continue their season.

The Philadelphia 76ers are set to face the Indiana Pacers in Philadelphia on Sunday, and it remains to be seen how the team will adapt without Oubre's presence on the court. The entire organization, along with fans, wishes Oubre a speedy recovery, and they look forward to his return before the end of the season as he works towards healing and rehabilitation under the care of the 76ers' medical staff.
