In a highly anticipated clash between two top-ranked Big Ten teams, No. 2 Purdue emerged victorious over No. 6 Wisconsin with a 75-69 win in Madison. The Boilermakers showcased a balanced offensive attack, leveraging the attention on their standout player, Zach Edey, to secure their seventh consecutive victory.

Purdue's backcourt duo of Braden Smith and Lance Jones proved to be key contributors, alongside Edey. All four players managed to score in double figures, demonstrating the Boilermakers' depth and versatility. Wisconsin, in an effort to contain Edey, frequently deployed double-teams and sometimes even triple-teams to hinder his impact on the game.

Nevertheless, Purdue's supporting cast stepped up in Edey's shadow, capitalizing on the defensive focus on their towering teammate. Additionally, the Boilermakers dominated the rebounding battle, capitalizing on missed shots to secure offensive rebounds and extend their possessions.

Although Wisconsin managed to keep pace for much of the game, they were unable to gain the lead in the second half after trailing by two points at halftime. In the final five minutes, the Badgers closed the gap to 59-57, but Purdue's resilience and composure allowed them to fend off Wisconsin's late push.

Edey, who had a quiet first half, came alive after halftime, finishing the game with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks. Smith contributed 19 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Jones led the Boilermakers in scoring with 20 points, along with six rebounds and three assists.

Wisconsin's senior forward, Tyler Wahl, displayed a phenomenal performance, recording 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks. However, his efforts were not enough to secure a victory for the Badgers. AJ Storr also contributed 14 points, even though his shooting was somewhat ineffective.

Purdue's excellent shooting from the field, outshooting Wisconsin 47.4% to 41.5%, proved crucial in their victory. Moreover, the Boilermakers limited the Badgers to a subpar 15.8% shooting from behind the arc, effectively neutralizing their long-range threat. Purdue's dominance on the boards, securing a 42-29 rebounding advantage, compensated for their higher turnover count against Wisconsin's formidable full-court pressure.

The loss marks the second consecutive defeat for Wisconsin, following an upset against unranked Nebraska earlier in the week. Meanwhile, Purdue maintained their stronghold on the top of the Big Ten standings, improving to a 21-2 overall record and a 10-2 conference record. Wisconsin now sits at 16-6 overall and 8-3 in conference play.

Both teams will have an opportunity to face off once again on March 10 in the regular-season finale, where Wisconsin will seek redemption and a chance to disrupt Purdue's conference dominance.
