Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green revealed in a recent podcast episode that he contemplated retiring from the NBA during his recent suspension. However, Green credited NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for persuading him to continue his career.

During the podcast, Green disclosed his conversation with Silver while serving his suspension from the Warriors. The emotional player expressed his desire to walk away from professional basketball, but Silver urged him to reconsider.

Green recounted the exchange, saying, "I told him, 'Adam, this is too much for me... It's all becoming too much for me - and I'm going to retire.' And Adam said, 'You're making a very rash decision and I won't let you do that.'"

The forward also expressed admiration for Silver's commitment to supporting players. He described their conversation as long and beneficial, expressing gratitude for having a commissioner like Silver who prioritizes helping players over punishing them.

Green has faced disciplinary action from the NBA multiple times this season, resulting in a total of 13 missed games. The first suspension occurred after he put Rudy Gobert in a chokehold during a confrontation with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Following his return, Green's second suspension came when he struck Jusuf Nurkic during a game against the Phoenix Suns on December 13. The league initially suspended him "indefinitely," with the condition that he fulfill certain requirements and consult with a counselor.

After completing his suspension, Green was reinstated on Saturday but did not participate in Sunday's game against the Toronto Raptors, which ended in a 133-118 loss for the Warriors. It is anticipated that he will also miss Wednesday's home game against the New Orleans Pelicans. However, there is a possibility for his return during the team's road games in Chicago and Milwaukee over the weekend.

As Green reflects on his recent challenges, the support from Commissioner Silver has given him renewed motivation to continue his basketball journey. Fans and teammates alike are hopeful that this newfound resolve will translate into a positive impact on the court for the remainder of the season.
