In response to an impending severe rainstorm in Southern California, NASCAR has made the unprecedented decision to move its exhibition Clash at the Coliseum from Sunday night to Saturday night at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The race, originally scheduled for Sunday, will now take place tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern on FS1, with the NASCAR Mexico Series race to follow.

The decision to reschedule the event was prompted by the prediction of dangerous weather conditions lasting into Wednesday. NASCAR had initially hoped to proceed as planned on Sunday, but considering the dire forecast, they opted to shift the race to Saturday. The starting lineup for the race will be determined by qualifying speeds in a session scheduled for mid-afternoon, with 22 spots secured by these qualifying speeds and one spot reserved for the top driver in 2023 driver points.

In a statement, NASCAR expressed gratitude for the support and partnership of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Los Angeles Public Safety in making the schedule adjustment. Their primary concern is ensuring a safe experience for fans, competitors, and staff. As weather conditions are expected to worsen as the day progresses, NASCAR urges fans to prioritize safety when making decisions about attending the event.

With the race now taking place on Saturday night, NASCAR has decided to open the grandstands for free admission. Those who had purchased tickets for Sunday's originally scheduled race will be offered refunds or credit for future NASCAR events.

Bob Pockrass, an experienced motorsports journalist covering NASCAR for FOX Sports, will be reporting on this unprecedented event. He has a long history of covering notable races, including over 30 Daytona 500s, and has worked for ESPN, Sporting News, NASCAR Scene magazine, and The (Daytona Beach) News-Journal.

As NASCAR prepares to showcase its Clash at the Coliseum under the lights tonight, fans eagerly anticipate an exciting and unforeseen race in Los Angeles.
