In a surprising move, the Miami Dolphins have decided to waive veteran pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul, filling his roster spot with the activation of running back Chris Brooks off the injured reserve list.

Pierre-Paul joined the Dolphins recently and had limited playing time, appearing in only two games. He participated in five defensive snaps and eight special teams snaps during his brief stint with the team. Unfortunately, he was inactive for the Dolphins' recent dominant 30-0 victory over the New York Jets.

Prior to joining the Dolphins, Pierre-Paul had a brief spell with the New Orleans Saints, appearing in just one game. Now, the 34-year-old finds himself heading to waivers. If he clears waivers, Pierre-Paul will become a free agent, with the opportunity to sign with another team's roster or practice squad.

A former first-round pick of the New York Giants in 2010, Pierre-Paul boasts an impressive career, having won two Super Bowl rings. He earned his first ring with the Giants in 2011 before adding another last year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The decision to waive Pierre-Paul comes as a surprise to many, considering his experience and track record as a pass rusher. However, the Dolphins seem to have different plans for their roster, opting to activate running back Chris Brooks instead.

Brooks, who had been on the injured reserve list, now has the opportunity to make an impact on the field for the Dolphins. His inclusion in the active roster adds depth and versatility to the team's running back position.

As the Dolphins move forward with their roster changes, it remains to be seen which team, if any, will claim Pierre-Paul off waivers. Regardless of the outcome, his presence and championship pedigree will surely be missed in Miami.

The Dolphins now shift their focus to the upcoming games, hoping that the addition of Brooks will contribute to their continued success this season. Time will tell if this roster move proves beneficial for the team as they strive for a playoff spot.
