Dallas Mavericks' star player Luka Doncic, who recently stunned the basketball world with a franchise-record 73-point performance, is currently listed as questionable for Saturday night's home game against the Sacramento Kings. The 22-year-old guard is nursing right ankle soreness, which has been a recurring issue for him this season.

Doncic had originally sprained his ankle earlier this month, causing him to miss four games out of a six-game span. Despite a valiant effort to recover, he twisted his ankle again in the second quarter of Wednesday's loss against the Phoenix Suns. Nevertheless, he managed to deliver an outstanding performance just two nights later.

In Thursday's road victory over the Atlanta Hawks, Doncic exploded for an impressive 73 points, tying the fourth-highest scoring game in NBA history. Alongside his scoring prowess, he also secured 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists. This remarkable achievement made Doncic only the second player in NBA history to record at least 70 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a single game, joining the reigning MVP Joel Embiid.

However, Doncic's exceptional outing came at a cost. The strain on his ankle during the game has left him with lingering soreness, putting his availability for the upcoming clash against the Kings in jeopardy.

Moreover, Doncic's co-star Kyrie Irving is also facing injury concerns. Listed as doubtful for Saturday night's game, Irving has missed the team's previous two games due to a sprained right thumb. The injury occurred early in Monday's loss to the Boston Celtics, and Irving has since been wearing a splint for support.

The Mavericks, currently in the eighth place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 25-20, are in a closely contested race for playoff positioning. The visiting Kings, holding the fifth spot with a record of 25-18, sit just one game ahead of the Mavericks. Thus, the outcome of this crucial matchup could potentially have significant implications for both teams.

As fans eagerly await updates on the availability of both Doncic and Irving, the Mavericks remain hopeful that their star players will make a swift recovery and contribute to their push for a deep postseason run.
