Charles Leclerc secured pole position for the 2023 United States Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen in sixth place after a track limits violation during qualifying. The session saw a close battle between Red Bull and their competitors, with Leclerc leading the way for Ferrari in Q2 and Q3.

Track limits proved to be a challenge throughout the knockout session, particularly in Turns 19 and 20, where drivers struggled to stay within the white lines due to the rough surface and high track temperatures. Leclerc set a blistering time of 1m34.828 to top the first Q3 run, followed by Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen.

On the final runs, Leclerc improved his time to 1m34.723s, but Verstappen's lap was deleted due to a slight slide at Turn 19. This mistake left Verstappen in sixth position, behind Lando Norris who secured second place. Hamilton finished fourth, unable to topple Leclerc from pole position.

Carlos Sainz claimed fourth place, followed by George Russell in fifth. Sergio Perez, meanwhile, finished ninth for Red Bull. Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon secured seventh and eighth places, respectively. Oscar Piastri rounded out the top 10.

In the Q2 segment, Yuki Tsunoda, Zhou Guanyu, Valtteri Bottas, Kevin Magnussen, and Daniel Ricciardo were eliminated. Ricciardo lost a chance to enter Q3 after running too wide out of Turn 19. During Q1, Nico Hulkenberg and both Aston Martin cars, driven by Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, were knocked out. Hulkenberg and Stroll faced potential post-qualifying investigations for failing to follow the race director's instructions regarding the maximum lap time for out and in laps.

The 2023 United States Grand Prix qualifying session witnessed intense competition and moments of disappointment for drivers. The race promises to be an exciting showdown as Leclerc starts from pole position, while Verstappen faces an uphill battle to make his way through the field from the sixth position.
