The Los Angeles Lakers are actively looking to bolster their roster ahead of the NBA trade deadline, and according to NBA insider Shams Charania, two players have emerged as the top targets for the team. Dejounte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks and Bruce Brown Jr. from the Toronto Raptors are reportedly at the forefront of the Lakers' wish list.

Charania revealed that the Lakers are closely monitoring Murray and Brown, indicating that they could be key additions to the team. Murray, a two-way star known for his offensive versatility and strong defense, has caught the Lakers' attention with his impressive performance this season. In 43 games with the Hawks, he is averaging 21.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game, shooting at an impressive 47.1% from the field and 39.0% from beyond the arc.

While some fans have raised concerns about how Murray would fit within the Lakers' system, the team remains undeterred and continues to be linked with the talented player.

On the other hand, Brown is emerging as a popular trade candidate across the league. The 27-year-old guard, who became an NBA champion with the Denver Nuggets last season, has shown his value on both ends of the court. Brown, who was recently traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Raptors, is averaging 11.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game this season, shooting at an efficient 48.1% from the field.

The Lakers' interest in Murray and Brown comes amidst speculation about the future of Lakers' guard D'Angelo Russell. Charania suggested that there could be interest in Russell from other teams, given his high-level performance. In his last six games, Russell has averaged an impressive 27.2 points per contest, shooting at an exceptional 53.5% from the field, 51.0% from beyond the arc, and 93.8% from the free-throw line.

While the trade rumors surrounding Murray and Brown raise questions about Russell's future with the Lakers, the team will have to make difficult decisions ahead of the trade deadline, which is set for February 8th. The Lakers have a strong desire to strengthen their roster for the remainder of the season, and Murray and Brown have emerged as the primary targets for the team. As the deadline approaches, all eyes will be on the Lakers to see if they can secure these coveted additions to their roster.
