John Cena Continues to Inspire WWE Wrestlers at Performance Center, Says Swerve Strickland
In a recent episode of the "Swerve City Podcast," former WWE star Swerve Strickland revealed how John Cena, a WWE legend, would generously offer his guidance and mentorship to aspiring wrestlers at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. According to Strickland, Cena would make it a point to meet with numerous individuals in a single session, ensuring that everyone had a chance to seek his advice.
Describing the scene, Strickland shared, "There was like a line out the door of people he was going to meet with. [There was] like nine people, 'I'm going to get you all in this room together.' Boom, closed the door, and he was like 'I got like 30 more minutes left, ask away." Despite having a busy schedule, Cena made sure to make the most of his time and address the questions and concerns of up-and-coming wrestlers.
Strickland further disclosed that at times, there would be an overwhelming number of 60 to 70 individuals eagerly waiting to have a moment with John Cena at the Performance Center. The wrestling icon, determined not to disappoint anyone, dedicated a few minutes to each person, ensuring that they felt heard and valued. As a testament to his dedication, Cena wanted every wrestler to leave the encounter feeling satisfied, not missing out on their opportunity.
John Cena, widely regarded as one of the best performers of his generation, left an indelible impact on those he interacted with. Strickland pondered whether the wrestling industry would witness another figure like Cena in the next decade, acknowledging that Cena's unique qualities couldn't be replicated. "I'm not talking about just talent or [a] machine because you can make that, but you can't create what he entails. All those extra little things, like you can't make that," Strickland remarked.
Swerve Strickland, who was released by WWE in November 2021 but has since thrived in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), shared his insights about Cena's influence during his time in the Performance Center. Strickland made his AEW debut at the Revolution pay-per-view in March 2022, where he went on to secure the AEW Tag Team Championships with Keith Lee and establish himself as a breakout singles star through his intense rivalries with Darby Allin and "Hangman" Adam Page.
Cena's selflessness and commitment to nurturing talent continue to inspire the WWE and wrestling community as a whole. His willingness to lend a helping hand, even amid his own demanding schedule, makes him a cherished figure in the industry.
