JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Jaguars announced today that they have signed quarterback E.J. Perry to their practice squad.

Perry, originally signed by the Jaguars in May 2022, spent the entire season of that year on the team's practice squad. However, in March 2023, he was waived by the Jaguars and subsequently claimed by the Houston Texans. Throughout 2023, Perry has had stints with both the Texans and the Michigan Panthers in the United States Football League (USFL).

Hailing from Andover, Massachusetts, Perry played college football at Boston College from 2017 to 2018 and then transferred to Brown University, where he played from 2019 to 2021. During his time at Brown, Perry showcased his skills by completing an impressive 546 passes for a total of 5,981 yards and 45 touchdowns across 20 games.

With Perry's signing, the Jaguars aim to bolster their quarterback depth and provide valuable practice opportunities for the young signal-caller. The practice squad serves as a developmental platform for players to refine their skills and potentially earn a spot on the active roster in the future. The team hopes that Perry's previous experience with the franchise will help him seamlessly integrate into the system and contribute to the team's success.

The Jaguars have been actively looking for options at the quarterback position since the departure of previous starter Trevor Lawrence. While they have made several moves in free agency and the draft, Perry's return signifies the team's continued efforts to find the right pieces to strengthen their roster.

As Perry returns to the Jaguars, he will look to make a lasting impression on the coaching staff and fight for a potential opportunity on the active roster. His previous experience within the organization may give him an edge over other contenders, but he will undoubtedly face competition as the team evaluates their options at the quarterback position.

The Jaguars have not yet provided details about the length of Perry's contract or the terms of his return to the practice squad. However, given the team's familiarity with him, it is apparent that they have confidence in his abilities and believe he can contribute to the team's ongoing development and success.

Overall, Perry's signing represents a strategic move by the Jaguars to solidify their quarterback depth and provide a promising opportunity for the young talent to continue honing his skills within the organization. As the season progresses, fans and analysts will closely monitor Perry's journey and his potential impact on the team's future quarterback plans.
