In a blow to the struggling Golden State Warriors, Chris Paul sustained a fractured left hand during their narrow victory over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. The NBA star is scheduled to undergo surgery next week, but there is currently no timeframe for his return to the court.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr expressed his sympathy for Paul, acknowledging the player's previous surgeries and expressing concern upon seeing him clutching his injured hand. Kerr stated, "I feel terrible for Chris. Guys will have to step up in his absence as we hold down the fort without him."

The Warriors have already been grappling with a challenging season, with their win-loss record below .500 and them clinging to the final play-in spot in the Western Conference. Adding to their woes, Draymond Green remains suspended, Jonathan Kuminga is discontented with his role, and Klay Thompson is navigating the declining phase of his career.

Even against the lowly Pistons, the Warriors needed two clutch 28-foot three-pointers from Stephen Curry in the final minute to secure a home victory. While Paul may not be the force he once was, he still played an integral role within the team, logging significant minutes and contributing in crucial moments.

Kerr revealed that in Paul's absence, Brandin Podziemski and Cory Joseph would take on more point guard responsibilities, with the possibility of reintegrating Moses Moody into the rotation. This adjustment may help alleviate the overcrowded rotation and provide Kerr with some clarity.

Moody, who had shown promise in Kerr's rotation in the past, had been relegated to "Did Not Play" status in recent games. However, with Green and Gary Payton II set to return, the rotation is expected to change once again.

As the Warriors face the uncertainties of Paul's injury, it seems probable that they may explore trade options in the future to address their roster issues. Paul could potentially be a candidate for trade consideration due to his expiring contract. However, for now, the focus remains on Paul's upcoming surgery and the team's quest to stay afloat.

With each setback, the Golden State Warriors find themselves battling to stay relevant and competitive. As they navigate Paul's absence and the challenges brought upon by injuries, there is no room for complacency as they fight to salvage their season.
