Former NFL Super Bowl Champion Derrick Ward Arrested for Alleged Robberies in Los Angeles

Former NFL running back and Super Bowl champion, Derrick Ward, was arrested this week in Los Angeles for allegedly committing multiple robberies around the city, law enforcement sources have confirmed. The 43-year-old L.A. native stands accused of robbing several businesses, including gas stations, over a recent period of time.

According to law enforcement officials, Ward did not use a firearm during the alleged robberies. However, officers assert that he employed force and intimidation to coerce the stores into handing over money. The former football player was apprehended on Monday afternoon and subsequently booked into jail by 6:30 PM. Ward's physical description in the booking information indicates that he stands at 6 feet tall and weighs 230 lbs.

Derrick Ward had a notable career in the NFL, beginning as a 7th-round pick for the New York Jets in 2004. Over his eight-year professional football career, he also played for the New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Houston Texans. Particularly memorable was his tenure with the Giants, where he was a member of the Super Bowl-winning squad that triumphed over Tom Brady's undefeated New England Patriots at the conclusion of the 2007 season.

During his time in the NFL, Ward competed in a total of 93 games and carried the ball 551 times for a total of 2,628 yards. He recorded 15 touchdowns, with 12 of them coming from rushing plays. At one point in his career, he signed a significant $17 million contract.

Presently, Derrick Ward remains in custody, as confirmed by jail records. Bail has been set at $250,000 for the former NFL star. Further information regarding the alleged robberies and any possible court proceedings is yet to be disclosed.
