In a recent interview, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell discussed the status of several key players as the team prepares for their upcoming games. The focus was on the evaluation clock for James Houston, the availability of TE Brock Wright, LT Taylor Decker's injury, and the progress of FB Jason Cabinda and DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Coach Campbell initially mentioned that there was a strong possibility of starting Houston's evaluation clock. However, during a later media appearance, he expressed uncertainty about the decision, stating that it was still being evaluated. The Lions usually refrain from starting players' injury evaluation clocks on short weeks, so the final decision remained undisclosed. Nevertheless, the team appears confident that Houston will return to practice soon.

Returning to the injury report, TE Brock Wright sustained a groin injury against the Broncos, preventing him from participating in last week's game against the Vikings. Although Tuesday's practice was a no-go for Wright due to the injury, the door remains open for a potential return later in the week. Coaches, however, have expressed doubts about his ability to practice, which raises concerns about his availability.

The report also revealed the return of LT Taylor Decker to the injury list. Fortunately, coaches appeared optimistic about his ability to participate in practice in some capacity. The upcoming practice session will provide more clarity on Decker's recovery progress.

Meanwhile, FB Jason Cabinda and DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson both continue their evaluation process. They still have 14 evaluation days remaining before a potential activation. Typically, such decisions are made later in the week. Encouragingly, Gardner-Johnson seems close to making a return as all signs point to positive progress. Coach Campbell highlighted the potential impact of Gardner-Johnson's return to the defensive unit, emphasizing his playmaking capabilities.

"We're going to take it as it comes here," Coach Campbell stated, addressing Gardner-Johnson's status. "Certainly, if we're able to—he's ready, it adds another weapon on defense is what it does, another playmaker."

As the Detroit Lions prepare for their upcoming games, the status of injured players remains a top concern. The evaluation clock for James Houston, the uncertainty surrounding TE Brock Wright and LT Taylor Decker's injuries, and the progress of FB Jason Cabinda and DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson will be closely monitored by fans and the coaching staff. The Lions are hopeful for the return of their integral players, as they aim to finish the season on a high note.
