The Boston Bruins emerged victorious with a convincing 4-1 win against the Buffalo Sabres at the KeyBank Center on Wednesday, snapping their four-game losing streak. Charlie Coyle's impressive performance, including two goals, played a crucial role in securing the victory for the Bruins.

Coyle's outstanding play was complemented by key assists from Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk, who each contributed with two assists during the game. Additionally, Jeremy Swayman's solid goaltending effort, making 26 saves, significantly contributed to Boston's success.

The Bruins wasted no time establishing their dominance, with Mason Lohrei scoring the opening goal just 4 minutes and 19 seconds into the first period. Coyle added to the lead with a power-play goal at 13:42, firing a powerful one-timer from the slot following a pass from DeBrusk. Boston capitalized on their power-play opportunity once more, with Coyle's pass deflecting off Erik Johnson's skate for another goal, extending their lead to 3-0 early in the second period.

Morgan Geekie further increased Boston's advantage, finding the back of the net at 13:44 of the second period off a rebound from behind the goal line. The Bruins' power-play proved to be a potent weapon, as they converted three of their four opportunities. On the other hand, Buffalo struggled to find success on the power play, going 0-for-6 throughout the game.

Although Johnson managed to score for the Sabres at 5:11 of the third period with a powerful slap shot, it was not enough to mount a comeback. The Sabres have now lost four of their last five games, their overall record standing at 14-18-4.

Forward Tage Thompson was absent from the game due to personal reasons, according to Buffalo coach Don Granato, who indicated that it was likely to be a one-time occurrence.

Buffalo continues to struggle defensively in the opening period, having conceded the most goals (48) in the NHL this season. Coach Granato emphasized the need to mentally overcome this challenge and swiftly move on from missed opportunities.

Boston coach Jim Montgomery acknowledged the rustiness that can come after the holiday break, but overall assessed the game as a relatively solid performance from the Bruins. The win provides a much-needed boost in confidence for the team as they aim to build on their success and continue their winning ways.

The Boston Bruins will look to carry their momentum forward as they prepare for their next match, while the Buffalo Sabres will regroup and strategize for their upcoming games in an effort to reverse their recent slide.
