In a shocking turn of events, WWE founder Vince McMahon is now facing serious allegations of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. Janel Grant, a former employee, has come forward with a lawsuit filed in a Connecticut federal court, accusing McMahon of pressuring her into sexual acts in exchange for her job at the WWE.
According to the lawsuit, Grant was hired by McMahon in 2019, during a vulnerable period in her life after the passing of her parents. However, what initially seemed like a dream opportunity quickly turned into a nightmare. Grant alleges that McMahon began grooming her for sexual exploitation, making explicit requests, and sharing intimate details about his personal life.
The lawsuit further claims that McMahon shared explicit photos of Grant with other WWE employees and wrestlers. Additionally, he allegedly recruited individuals, including WWE employees, to engage in sexual relations with Grant. Shockingly, the lawsuit alleges that McMahon and another WWE executive sexually assaulted Grant while colleagues were busy at their desks.
These disturbing allegations not only call into question McMahon's behavior but also raise concerns about management at WWE, which is now part of TKO Group Holdings. It is worth noting that in 2022, McMahon stepped back as CEO of WWE while the company conducted an investigation into allegations of misconduct. A report by the Wall Street Journal revealed that McMahon had agreed to pay more than $12 million to four women as part of settlements.
Grant's lawyers contend that the investigation conducted by WWE was a "sham," as they never sought input from Grant or requested any evidence, despite her willingness to cooperate. The lawsuit alleges that McMahon later coerced Grant into signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) after indicating that his wife had discovered their relationship. However, the payments promised to Grant as part of the agreement were ultimately stopped.
In her lawsuit, Grant paints a picture of herself as a vulnerable individual facing grief and unemployment when she crossed paths with McMahon. Their initial meeting allegedly involved McMahon sharing personal details about his life and promising to not only provide her with a job but also a better life within WWE. However, Grant claims that McMahon quickly escalated the situation by making inappropriate advances and engaging in aggressive sexual behavior.
The lawsuit also includes text messages allegedly exchanged between McMahon and Grant that detail his sexual fantasies and the sharing of explicit photos with male WWE employees. Additionally, the lawsuit asserts that McMahon used Grant as a "sexual pawn" to entice an unnamed WWE wrestler to sign a new contract, even going as far as providing Grant's personal cell phone number and making promises on her behalf.
The lawsuit, which spans 67 pages and is filled with disturbing claims, seeks to have the NDA declared invalid under federal law, including the Trafficking Victims Protection Act. As of now, WWE has not provided any comment on the matter.
These allegations have sent shockwaves through the wrestling world and beyond. It remains to be seen how the legal proceedings will unfold and what repercussions, if any, McMahon will face if the claims are substantiated. The case sheds light on the prevalence of sexual exploitation and misconduct in various industries and underscores the importance of holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
