Soap opera star Billy Miller's cause of death has been revealed following his tragic passing on September 15, just days before his 44th birthday. The Travis County Medical Examiner's report states that Miller died by suicide with a gunshot wound to the head. The actor had been battling bipolar disorder and depression, according to the report obtained by ET.

Miller's body was discovered in the bathtub of his home, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. The report also mentions that several letters indicating suicidal intent and instructions for others were found at the scene. The actor's toxicology report revealed the presence of ethanol (alcohol), cocaine, diphenhydramine (allergy and cold pills), marijuana, and amphetamines in his system at the time of death.

Known for his memorable roles on General Hospital and The Young and the Restless, Miller's passing left fans and the entertainment industry in shock. His family had previously disclosed that the actor had been struggling with manic depression when he died. Miller's mother, Patricia Miller, expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and condolences received from fans and friends in the wake of her son's tragic death.

In a statement to Soap Opera Digest, Patricia shared heartfelt thoughts about her late son's battle with bipolar depression: "He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends, and his fans, but in the end, the disease won the fight, and he surrendered his life."

Billy Miller's career in entertainment began as a model for Wilhelmina. From 2007 to 2008, he portrayed the character Richie Novak on All My Children. However, he gained immense popularity during his six-year run as Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless, earning him three Daytime Emmy Awards. Following his departure from the show in 2014, Miller went on to portray Jason Morgan and Drew Cain on General Hospital until 2019.

After leaving the soap opera world, Miller made appearances in various television shows. He had a recurring role as Marcus, the brother of Harvey Spector, in five episodes of the USA drama Suits. Additionally, he starred in 10 episodes of the Apple TV+ drama Truth Be Told, led by Octavia Spencer. Miller's final acting credit was in a 2022 episode of CBS' NCIS.
