Hulu has decided to cancel its planned reality series, tentatively titled Diddy+7, featuring hip-hop artist Sean 'Diddy' Combs and his family following multiple accusations of sexual abuse and assault against him. The streaming service made this decision in the wake of the allegations made by several women, including his ex-girlfriend Cassie.
According to Rolling Stone, sources have confirmed that Hulu dropped the project due to the serious allegations surrounding Diddy. The reality show was supposed to provide a glimpse into the lives of the 54-year-old music mogul and his family, showcasing their various businesses and endeavors. Filming for the show had reportedly already begun in locations such as Los Angeles and Miami.
Hulu is not the only company severing ties with Diddy. As many as 23 other companies have also terminated their business arrangements with Diddy's e-commerce venture, Empower Global, as reported by Rolling Stone. It seems that the allegations have taken a toll on Diddy's professional relationships.
Nekita May Art Co. founder Tammy Nekita Lembrick spoke out about her decision to stop working with Empower Global, stating that she values her role as a role model for her daughter and does not want her brand associated with an organization facing such serious allegations. Annette Njau, founder of House of Takura, echoed a similar sentiment, emphasizing the importance of supporting victims and condemning such behavior.
In addition to the cancellation of the reality show and the fallout with Empower Global, Diddy has withdrawn from his position as the chairman of the network Revolt. Liquor company Diageo has also taken legal steps to prevent Diddy's image from being used as a spokesperson for the tequila brand DeLéon.
Last month, Diddy reached a settlement with Cassie over a lawsuit she filed against him. The lawsuit alleged a pattern of abuse and misconduct during their on-and-off relationship, including physical assault, forcing her into drug-fueled situations, and filming sexual encounters with other men. Diddy vehemently denied these allegations in a statement released on Instagram, vowing to fight for his reputation and the truth.
Since then, three more women have come forward with allegations against Diddy. One woman, identifying herself as Jane Doe, claimed she was sexually assaulted by Diddy and other men when she was 17 years old in 2003.
The accusations have sparked a public debate and condemnation, with supporters of the victims advocating for justice and holding powerful individuals accountable for their actions. Diddy's reputation and legacy hang in the balance as he continues to deny the allegations made against him.
It remains to be seen how the legal proceedings and public opinion will unfold, but the cancellation of the reality show and the severed business connections indicate the serious impact these accusations have had on Diddy's career and public image.
