In a heartwarming update, Derek Hough, the renowned "Dancing With the Stars" judge, revealed that his wife, Hayley Erbert, has successfully undergone cranioplasty surgery. Hough took to Instagram on Thursday to express his immense relief, gratitude, and overwhelming joy regarding the positive outcome of the procedure.

Hough shared a photograph of himself sitting next to Erbert's hospital bed, accompanied by a heartfelt message. He expressed his sincere appreciation to the exceptional medical team whose expertise and steady hands played a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth and successful surgery.

Reflecting on the immense support and prayers they received from everyone, Hough conveyed that it has been a source of strength and comfort during this challenging time. The couple has been profoundly touched by the outpouring of support from their loving community.

The cranioplasty surgery is seen as a significant milestone in Erbert's recovery journey, filling both her and Hough with hope and optimism for the future. They are now looking forward to her complete recovery while being surrounded by a supportive and loving community.

Earlier this month, Erbert was hospitalized after becoming disoriented at the end of their show in Washington, D.C. It was then that doctors diagnosed her with a cranial hematoma resulting from a burst blood vessel. An emergency craniectomy was performed to alleviate the condition.

The Mayo Clinic explains that an intracranial hematoma occurs when there is a collection of blood within the brain tissue or beneath the skull, which exerts pressure on the brain. While the cause of Erbert's hematoma was not disclosed, it is likely related to a head trauma, such as a car accident or fall.

Notably, Hough and Erbert were involved in a car crash in the mountains in December of the previous year. Although they both emerged from the accident unharmed, Erbert sustained minor injuries, including a swollen face and four stitches above her eyebrow.

As Erbert continues on her path to recovery, the loving couple expresses their gratitude once again for the support and well wishes they have received. Their journey has been filled with hope, optimism, and an unwavering determination to overcome this trying time together.
