Mexican-born actor Adan Canto, known for his roles in popular television series such as "The Cleaning Lady," "Designated Survivor," and his appearance in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," has sadly passed away at the age of 42. The news of Canto's death was confirmed by Variety, revealing that he had been privately battling appendiceal cancer.

Canto's notable portrayal was in the Fox series "The Cleaning Lady," where he starred as gangster Arman Morales. The show revolves around a mother, played by Élodie Young, who becomes involved with Arman's criminal organization as a cleaner after witnessing a brutal murder. Season 3 of the series, currently being filmed, is set to air on March 5.

Born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, Canto spent his early years in Del Rio, Texas. He initially pursued a career in music, writing songs for Mexican TV shows and movies. Eventually, he found himself on stage, starring in an adaptation of Pedro Almodóvar's "All About My Mother." Canto made his American acting debut in 2013, appearing in the Fox crime thriller series "The Following" alongside Kevin Bacon.

Canto's talent and versatility led him to further success, as he secured roles in various television series and films. He joined the cast of ABC's sitcom "Mixology" and Netflix's crime drama "Narcos." In 2014, he gained recognition for his portrayal of the mutant superhero Sunspot in "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Canto also appeared in the Fox series "Designated Survivor" as Vice President Aaron Shore.

Aside from his acting career, Canto directed two short films, "Before Tomorrow" in 2014 and "The Shot" in 2020. He had a range of film credits, including "Amanda and Jack Go Glamping," "2 Hearts," "Bruised," "The Devil Below," and "Agent Game."

The news of Canto's passing has left the entertainment industry in mourning. Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment, in a joint statement, expressed their sorrow at the loss of a talented actor and dear friend.
