The decision comes after Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith, an inmate, was granted a temporary restraining order against Combs, according to TMZ reports.

The judgment was handed down by Lenawee County Circuit Court Judge Anna Marie Anzalone on Monday, as Combs notably failed to file a response to the inmate's sexual assault lawsuit. Furthermore, the rapper was absent from the scheduled hearing.

Cardello-Smith had originally requested the substantial monetary compensation, which Judge Anzalone awarded. It has been determined that Combs will be required to follow a payment plan, with installments of $10 million per month starting from October 1.

Responding to the judgment, Combs' lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, expressed confidence in having the decision swiftly dismissed. Agnifilo pointed out that Cardello-Smith is a convicted felon and sexual predator with no connection or legal basis for suing Combs. According to the attorney, Combs had never even heard of him, let alone been served with any lawsuit.

Cardello-Smith's lawsuit against Combs stems from an alleged incident at a party in Detroit in 1997. The inmate claimed that while performing oral sex on a woman, he felt a male's hand touch him. Upon awakening later, Cardello-Smith allegedly witnessed Combs engaging in sexual activity with the same woman, who was the subject of his encounter earlier. The producer is said to have made a disturbing statement, saying, "I did this to you too."

This is not the first time Combs has faced legal troubles in relation to sexual assault allegations. In November 2023, his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against him. The two settled within 24 hours, though the settlement amount remains undisclosed. In May of the following year, surveillance footage obtained by CNN showed Combs assaulting his then-partner in a hotel. He later apologized for his actions via an Instagram video.

Combs continues to deny any wrongdoing and faces multiple lawsuits for sexual assault, including one from Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones. As the legal battle unfolds, the music industry and fans are closely observing the outcome of these allegations against the renowned record executive.
