**Ryan Murphy Reflects on the Significant Response to 'Monster' Series**

Ryan Murphy recently opened up about the overwhelming reaction to the 'Menendez Story,' citing it as an anticipated outcome following the release of his 'Monster' series on Netflix. During a panel for the show in New York City, he shared his thoughts on the reception it received.

Murphy admitted that he wasn't completely surprised by the massive response, stating, "I can't say I was unsurprised, because when we finished shooting it and I saw the episodes, I thought they were incredibly powerful on several different points of view." His intention with the series was to delve into various complex perspectives, particularly emphasizing the issue of sexual abuse.

"The goal was to present different complicated points of view, and the narrative on sexual abuse was very impactful," Murphy explained. He noted a growing trend among younger viewers who are keen to discuss topics that were not widely addressed back in 1989. "So whether you believe them or not is kind of beside the point," he reiterated.

Murphy emphasized that the primary aim of creating the series was to ignite discussions about such poignant topics. "What it did, I think, which is why I wanted to make it, was launch a conversation about that topic," he said.

According to Murphy, the dialogue sparked by the series drew in a wide audience, encouraging many to voice their opinions. He remarked, "And people were really drawn to it, and a lot of people got involved and made their opinions known after they watched the show, which was very, very interesting."
