**Al Pacino Shares Near-Death Experience Battling Covid-19**
During a recent podcast appearance, legendary actor Al Pacino opened up about a harrowing encounter with Covid-19 that brought him face-to-face with his own mortality. Speaking on The New York Times' podcast "The Interview," the 84-year-old actor recounted the events that unfolded when he fell critically ill at his home in 2020. Pacino had been promoting his memoir, "Sonny Boy," when he revealed the life-threatening ordeal to listeners.
Pacino described how his condition rapidly deteriorated after contracting the virus. The distinguished actor experienced a high fever, severe dehydration, a faint pulse, and eventually lost consciousness. "I was sitting there at my house, and I was gone. Like that," he remarked, adding a dramatic snap of his fingers to emphasize the suddenness of the experience. "I didn’t have a pulse."
In a matter of moments, paramedics arrived at Pacino's residence, outfitted in gear that he said resembled space suits. Six paramedics and two doctors quickly went to work, and Pacino vividly recalls the scene upon regaining consciousness. "It was kind of shocking to open your eyes and see that," he recounted. "I opened my eyes and everybody was around me – the first time that's ever happened." Medical personnel confirmed his revival with remarks like "He's back. He's here."
Although the incident was grave, Pacino confessed he didn't experience any profound revelations while unconscious. "I didn’t see the white light or anything like that," he said. "There's nothing there. You're gone." This reflection led Pacino to ponder death in a way he never had before. "Now I started thinking about that and I never thought about it in my life. But you know actors, it sounds good to me to say I died once. It felt like death. What is it when there’s no more?"
Last year, Pacino also made headlines when he became a father for the fourth time. At the age of 83, he welcomed a baby boy named Roman, adding another significant milestone to his eventful life.
